Allison Rimm, Keynote Speaker

Allison Rimm is a strategic planning expert, executive coach, and best-selling author who inspires individuals and organizational leaders to create breathtaking visions and practical plans to make them come to life.The former Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Information Management at Massachusetts General Hospital, she was responsible for managing the agenda of the senior leadership team and the governance activities of Board of Trustees in addition to leading institution-wide strategic planning efforts. As the executive in charge of Information Technology and Medical Records, she managed hundreds of people & hundreds of millions of dollars in capital and operating budgets.

Now at the helm of Allison Rimm & Associates, she combines her passion for leadership development and strategic planning to engage the hearts and minds of her clients to drive exceptional business results. She also serves on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School Continuing Medical Education and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Executive and Continuing Professional Education Programs and is a regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review. In her book, The Joy of Strategy: A Business Plan for Life, Allison presents eight steps to help readers find their purpose, set priorities, and fulfill even their most elusive goals.

Sara Laschever

An authority on women’s leadership and the persistence of the wage gap, Sara Laschever has spent her career investigating the challenges that shape women’s lives at work. She is the co-author, with Linda Babcock, of Women Don’t Ask, the groundbreaking study that focused public attention on the forces preventing women from negotiating on their own behalf, and Ask for It, a nuts-and-bolts negotiation training primer for women struggling to overcome the barriers in their path. A highly sought-after speaker, Sara lectures and teaches workshops to corporate audiences, colleges and universities, law firms, government agencies, and women’s leadership conferences in the U.S. and around the world. A founding faculty member of the Carnegie Mellon Leadership and Negotiation Academy for Women and formerly a Senior Fellow at the Center for Work-Life Policy, Sara also worked as Research Associate and Principal Interviewer for Project Access, a trailblazing Harvard University study of the obstacles blocking women’s progress in the sciences.  

 

Kristen Picard, PhD

Kristen Picard, PhD is a teacher, speaker, and lifelong student. She is a trainer within the field of biotechnology at Sanofi Genzyme, and also speaks about various aspects of mindful living – a topic that is near and dear to her heart. Kristen has been practicing mindfulness for nearly 20 years and utilizes mindfulness on a daily basis to navigate the stresses and complexities of life.  Kristen received the designation of Qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Instructor from the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness. Participants in her mindfulness workshops and MBSR programs receive a rich understanding of mindfulness through exposure to philosophy and research that is solidified through experiential learning. Kristen completed her PhD in Adult Learning and Development in February of 2018. Her research involved an investigation into the development of adult meditators. Olufunmilayo (Funmi) Ayobami

Funmi Ayobami is the Assistant Dean for Inclusion and Engagement in the Graduate School at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In her role, Funmi oversees the Office of Inclusion and Engagement, and is focused on increasing access, fostering belonging and promoting success of all graduate students, especially those from historically underrepresented populations. She serves as the director of graduate fellowship programs aimed at increasing recruitment and retention of minority graduate students at UMass Amherst.  

Prior to her role at UMass, Funmi conducted pedagogical research aimed at exploring the persistence and success of traditionally underrepresented populations in higher education. She has received numerous awards and funding during her academic career, from the National Science Foundation, the Sloan Foundation and the Orthopaedic Research Society, and was awarded the Cornell University Zellman Warhaft Commitment to Diversity Award in 2014. Funmi received her Bachelors degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Professional Writing from WPI, and her Masters and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University.  


ALUMNAE PANEL BIOS

Joyce Kline

Joyce Kline is Accenture’s North America Aerospace & Defense Applied Intelligence Lead. Joyce has been helping clients define their digital capabilities across the extended enterprise, including how to become data-driven enterprises, how to derive benefits from analytics and AI powered solutions, how to develop predictive analytics capabilities, and how to embark on a digital transformation. Prior to joining Accenture, Joyce was employed at four different GE businesses and held various positions in manufacturing, sourcing and quality. Joyce holds an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and a BSME from WPI.

Joyce is a member of the WPI Board of Trustees, the Women’s Impact Network, and has been an active member of the WPI Alumni Association, previously serving as President. Joyce is based in Boston, MA.

Pamela (Glasson) Lynch

Pamela Lynch graduated from WPI in 2005 with a BS in Chemical Engineering, and currently is the Director of Global Supplier Quality at TPI Composites, Inc. Pamela has worked in the renewable energy industry for over decade in various engineering, operations, and quality roles. In her current role, Pamela is responsible for the quality of materials and suppliers for nearly $1B in annual spend across the world. Outside of work, Pamela volunteers in the greater Boston community and is a past president of the Junior League of Boston. She also serves on the Board of Youth Villages, which is a nonprofit mental health services provider for families across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Maureen A. McCaffrey, P.E., LEED AP

Maureen McCaffrey is Director at MIT Investment Management Company, whose mission is to provide stewardship of MIT's financial resources. The stewardship of these resources includes, among other things, the investment of endowment and operating assets in various asset classes such as commercial real estate. Maureen manages planning and development of capital projects in MIT's Cambridge commercial real estate portfolio, including zoning initiatives, renovations, tenant-fitups, and ground up developments with a focus on stewardship of sustainability initiatives. Maureen has permitted and constructed over 2 million square feet of commercial life sciences development in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA, for a wide range of tenants from international pharma/research to local start-up co-working labs.

Maureen is a Professional Engineer, licensed in Massachusetts, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. She enjoys cycling, learning and listening to music, and time with family and friends.
