The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS) is required for international students who come from countries where English is not the first language.
This is waived if within last five years you attended institutions in US, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or Anglophone regions of Africa, Canada or the Caribbean for at least two years of full-time studies.
This is waived if you have worked in the US for three or more years.
Scores must be sent to WPI (school code: 3969). The minimum scores for admission are:
TOEFL
223 (computer-based test)
563 (paper-based test)
84 (internet-based test)
IELTS: 7.0 overall band score with no sub-score lower than 6.5
NOTES AND EXPECTATIONS
Applicants who have completed two years of full-time study in a college or university in the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or the Anglophone regions of Africa, Canada, or the Caribbean, within five years of matriculating at WPI are not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
School of Business: TOEFL/IELTS is required for all applicants whose native language is not English, and who have not earned a degree from an English-instruction college or university.
Higher scores are required for Teaching Assistants.
Scores are valid for two years from the test date.
